Sugar and calorie reduction is the #1 health challenge in the GCC, a region that holds one of the highest obesity rates, translating into high diabetes rates and impacting the health of the residents. The government is actively looking to devise strategies and regulations to incentivise food & beverage manufacturers and consumers to cut down on sugars using different tools – from tax policies to awareness campaigns.
